I thought I give you all a place you post your Photos from the Doolin Event
that don’t fit too well in any of the other categories,
    like this one:

Looks like I won’t be organising the next event after all…. (taken by Podge)

Yer Mad, Hauke. Wired to the moon!!

Here’s a few potential new members. Wonder if the horizon is straight in their shot?

    Alan.

Even the tourists were taking shots of Hauke grasping onto dear live.
Was the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time

Before I post any other shots from the weekend I want to know what happened here.

I was looking through my viewfinder and turning the polarizer to see what it would do when this happened to the highlights on the wet rocks:

Too bad the site has been down-
I’m sure you would have had the definitive answer already from one of the regular rock snappers-

I’ll have a guess- although that’s all it is-
I reckon it has something to do with silica, or mica or some other transparent crystalline substance in the rock-

Using the polarizer has maybe revealed some or all of these phenomena-

    reflection,
    total internal reflection,
    bi-refringence,
and cross polarization of the minerals or organisms present in the sea water, or in the silica or mica itself-

If somebody wants to keep the Guinness flowing, I’ll make it up as I go along, with diagrams-

    Seems plausible Pete-
Though on balance, I’d say maybe not-
    but that’s only another guess-

Though you’d think he’d know what kinda filter he was using, wouldn’t you?

Looks like we might have to remain ignorant-

Cool I want one, because I don’t think I have one.
This is the first time this polariser has done anything like that

Maybe I have discovered a new subatomic particle that can only be found in Galway Bay?!

It would be interesting to hear more about the filter JB.
I wouldn’t want to buy one by mistake.

    Welcome Ivan.

I wonder what I am looking at there… surely the young lady on the right must have caught my eye.
