Prague tram

I’ve just been experimenting with Photoshop on some old snaps and thought I’d post and see what people make of the result. Bit to much style over substance?

Heres the original (apologies for the wonkey buildings!)

I like the shot but not 100% sure of the processing. The processed version has a vintage late 70’s or early 80s feel about it but the background on the right side looks a bit bleached. Maybe if that could be pulled back a bit and the overlay type effect on the tram toned down a fraction. Composition wise I think its strong and those red prague trams are always visually appealing.

Yeah, I like this style. It’s very 70’s looking. Roberto has a similar style just pushed a bit further.

Don’t worry about the wonky buildings. I’d be unsteady too if I saw a tram full of people coming towards me with “L” plates.

    Nice.

    Thanks for the comments

Glad people have picked up on the reto thing, the intention was to get something of that kind of style. Kind of in keeping with a shot of Prague in mid winter (highly recomended as somewhere to go for a New Year by the way, pure bedlam) and the retroness of the tram it’s self. Not sure it’s my style per sey either.

Ger, I know what you meen. I was trying to clean up the tram and lift it out of the picture + deal with the blow out sky. It’s a graduated gray layer that flattened the background. The original intention was to apply a vignette but I got distracted! There’s a Hi Pass overlay on the tram. Is that what you’re refering to needing toning down? I also did a final trick with Levels in Lab Colour that introduced some noise.

    wow.. I absolutley love it.

It’s not too stylized at all.

No vignette needed..works great this way imo

    I like this one-
though the crop seems wonkier than the original-

    The crop seems right,
though I’d leave in more on the left-

The colouring looks a little like sx70,
though the red is just a bit strong-

A picture like this is always as old as the newest car,
    I always think-
and the white van doesn’t help-

Too bad its not a smoking Trabby,
or a Zil, or a tank-

    Good shot though-

JB, The buildings are all over the place! I tried selectivly straightening the image for each and this one probably worked best. If you straighten for the ones further back the windows to the left of the tram looked most odd. It gives the tram a bit of drama as well (the original is nearer to the truth!). I cropped slightly to the left (or should that be right?!) deliberatly to add to the idea that the tram is struggling to make the corner and give the idea that it’s heading somewhere. Know what you mean about the van, but it was either van or tram. Definitely a ‘oh there’s a shot’ moment.
