I’ve never done a press conference but I would imagine that your position is key.
It would suck if you got trapped in a bad position down the back.

You often see that one one photographer stuck down the back trying to shoot over everyone else heads.

Best of luck though, sounds interesting.

Get a good position ……. sometimes the guy who missed the shot will be the “buyer”. If you are doing the caption notes or the release then you must be VERY careful with wording or slant and of course…..ignore off record coments !!!

Spell everyones nams correctly, note what position in the shot they are in. If you look at the captions under shots of people, the most comon is:

“From the left, joe blogs of xyz ltd, bertie bassett of sweetie fame, mary good of abc ltd”.

So you need their names, but also where in the photo! You’ll think you will recall, but you will not! Take good notes. If there are names printed on cards in front of them, shoot images of them good enough that you can read.

    Good luck!

    Mike,

when taking the shots make sure you get heads as close together as possible so that they are as big as possible in the papers (makes them much more interesting to the casual viewer). Also try to make sure that any relevant logos on the backdrops are as close to the heads as possible. If they are too far away then the papers will crop them away, or make the heads very small in the shot to get in a logo, which will make the logo very small as well.

After the conference is finished try to set up shots of the key people/groups. Try to keep these also as close to the logo/banner as possible. Use some sort of prop that is relevant to the conference big in the shot as well,

Had a good day and no doubt you will read/see it later about Ryanair and their new routes. Mind they are sacrificing 3 othes for the new ones but they think its worth it. They also placed a 3bn order for more planes today too so they are defo on the way up.

Thanks again for all your advice which came in handy.
