Pricing prints

    Guys,

I’ve just been asked by someone who saw some of my shots on FLICKR to buy a print. However, I’m not too sure what to charge for the print/prints and what type of print to supply.

    any pointers?

    Cheers,

    P&S.

P&S, if you’d like to pm me with more details, like the size they requested etc I’ll be glad to help out. I’ve started selling prints this year so have been battling this myself

Firstly, well done on selling some prints.

Re: the price. It depends on the size, number of, mounted/unmounted and if they want a frame.

I sell my A4 unmounted prints for ?20 unmounted, 25 mounted
    A3 unmounted for 25 amd 30 mounted.

I’ve sold some big 20×30 prints, framed for ?110.

    Don’t sell yourself short.

    Brian,

Thanks for your feedback. I had a look at your shots, you have taken some really beautiful images, congratulations.

What paper/printer do you use? I’ve sent prints of Jazz stars to clients before that were printed on dirsublimation printer. The printed image was great, but the paper was a little too glossy.

thanks P&S. I don’t have a printer. But recently I’ve been getting my prints from Peak-imageing, great service and great price. If I recall correctly they use Fuji paper. Sometimes if I’m under pressure for time I’ll use Snappy Snaps in Belfast. They’re a bit more pricey and their prints tend to be a little darker than Peak-imagine so I’ll brighten them a little first.

I also include care instruction printed on nice headed paper (from Vista Print), it gives a good profession feel to the customer, and a receipt.

I don’t know if this helps but there is a photographer in Clonakilty with a 20″x30″ (rather nicely framed) picture in his window at 500 Euro .

I sell pictures through a few galleries and they go for around 120 Euro for a 15×12 or 150 for a 20×16.
That includes a basic black frame.

If anyone has any ideas for outlets for framed pictures I’d appreciate them !

    Keith
