Providing files on cd. How to price?

I regularly take photos at events, prize givings etc at a local golf club to send to the local paper for publication.
They have now asked that i provide them with the photos on a cd to use in their gallery website.
I have no idea what to charge for this service. Any advice will be appreciated.

It depends on how they intend to use them. Are they just for display purposes (in which case they should pay you a licensing fee) or are they going to sell prints (in which case other charges come into play). You should also charge a production fee (for preparing the CD). There are lot’s of different pricing models you could use and this is something that crops up from time to time here. I recall that there was a similar topic discussed here some time ago but I haven’t searched for it.

If you have time and are prepared to do some reading, then there’s a wealth of useful links that you can follow here

Thank you Thorsten…. a lot of reading there.
They will not be selling the images so I guess its just the licensing fee. Suggestions anyone?

Well, web licensing fees are typically determined by the size of the image, how long it’s going to be on display for and the likely geographic spread. Whilst the images may not be for sale, you should consider the fact that viewers are likely to download images in which they feature, even if only to show off to friends and family.

Having had a look around, I found amongst others, a Welsh slide library charging the following rates per image for electronic editorial use:

    For 6 Months ?20
    For 12 months ?40
    For 5 years ?80
    For 10 years ?160
