Lol, I’m glad I read this forum enough to know that was a self appraisal Pete ;-)

I’ve left the couple of photos which break the rules in as in fig’s case it was a funny one.

If you guys need to discuss this, please open up a thread in the General Chat area. The rules however will be strictly followed in the next rounds.

I’m going to be clearing down this thread before lunch time today as its not a discussion forum.

    cheers

    Folks,

If Mark wants the rules to be strictly photo enhancement and not photo art then so be it. But what’s to stop anyone posting an image, requesting anyone to do their worst/best and posting the efforts on the thread and then forming a poll by a date? The winner posts the next thread?

I’m not undermining your threads Mark but this controversy will rumble everytime there is a PS challenge. If some want a photo-art competition then lets get it rolling ourselves. (Hands up who hears JB typing right now).

And to clarify I liked figs effort – classic. But all others should be judged by clearly defined rules…

    Me ;)

Its my fault that this whole discussion has started, I shouldn’t have added some of these photos to the vote.
With that, this time as I’ve messed it up, I’ll leave them all in the poll and be stricter the next time around.

Hopefully that’ll be the end of the discussion ;)

    I thought it was funny.
Can’t see what the fuss is all about.
All this pedantic rule waving sucks the fun and life out of threads.
If you don’t agree with it then don’t vote for it.
    Simple as.

Agree with Mick to be honest…

What’s the point in rules for something where there’s absolutely nothing at stake… all this talk about people learning and getting inspiration from the PS Challenge is a load of codswallop as far as I am concerned. Just have a laugh… and a bit of fun… and don’t take it too seriously. Once the fundamentals of the original image are still in tact then I say go for it… do what you will.

I voted for Fig… before this debate cropped up… why… because it was fun and stood out above everything else.

Well whats the point of having an original image to work on as a start?

Just make up a theme and anything goes.

There has to be rules or guidelines, as with any competition.
Instead of “if you dont like it dont vote for it” . . .
    what about . . .

“if you dont agree with the few rules there are dont enter”

See it’s not a really Competition… it’s a Challenge… the challenge being to manipulate the supplied image… if someone posts up something that is so far off the original that it’s barely recognizable as the original then I’m not going to vote for it.

I think a bit of common sense in the form of guidelines is what’s required… not rules.

Can we not just have a bit of fun? It’s a photoshop challenge for fun. It’s even in the rules to have fun ;-) If this were a serious competition and indeed a photography competition then yes the rules would be important.

Exactly.. I mean it’s not like you automatically get 5 Pies and have your status upgraded from “Member” to “Photoshop Challenge Round #14” winner or the like… humm… now that’s an idea… Mark you listening

There is alot of agreements for and against and we all know the saying “rules are made to be broken” but in fairness there a very few rules and so far most people abide by them. Figs pic is funny yes but it doesn’t belong in the challenge. There are a million other places on the forum that it could have been displayed. As Aoluain says if you don’t like the rules don’t enter. This is not directed at Fig in any way. I like the idea of antoher challenge where you can do what ever you want to the supplied photo. I would love to see what Fig would come up with as he obviously has a great sence of humor.
Mark how would you feel about running a simular challenge where the supplied image can be edited in any way. That way there is more interaction on the site and everyone is happy. :?:

I think this thread is heading in the same direction as LATCHIKO’s Plassey Ship post!

There has to be Rules or Guidelines to a competition or challenge, it evens the playing
field for everyone who wants to take part to some degree.
It cannot become a free for all where anything goes that would be a seperate competition/challenge.

The rules posted were posted from challenge #1 and nobody disagreed we cannot start moving the goalposts
now because som of the team think the posts are too far apart.

When an image is posted in future for the Challenge I suggest posting the Rules/Guidelines
along with the requirements for the challenge!

I think if the rules were re-named as guidelines there would be no point in having them
    because they are ONLY guidelines.
