Puppet on a string….

When I made this image, I couldn’t think of a way to get straight (taut) lines between the models hands and the doll itself. I ended up just using the pen tool with a rough line, but the image could be improved so much by having taut lines on the strings.

    Anyone got any clever suggestions?

There’s a Line Tool in Photoshop, or am I missing the point completely?

    Hi Brandyman, nice idea.

couple of things I’d do to improve it.

first the puppet is a little too far forward. the model’s arm is coming out straight from her side. you need to follow the perspective of the wood on the floor to place the puppet correctly.

On the puppets reflection I’d try to match it up to the model’s. If you still have the layered file, make it a black silhouette, multiply the layer and make it 20% transparency. Using a large soft brush erase the bottom of the reflection to give a graduated fade. a slight gaussian blurr will help.

One thing missing is the puppets shadow.

For the strings, I’d use the vector tool and (on a new layer) stroke the lines with a brush. play around with the layer settings to get the right feel.

    hope that helps

Very nice Brandyman. Love the idea. As for improving it, I’m not qualified to suggest anything but there are plenty of experts around here who are more than willing to help 8)

I like it. The comments from Stutter will help to improve the image.
