I have the Manfrotto 728B tripod it has a fixed pan/tilt head
which I have had no problems with, but I have been given a
ball head pistol grip head which I would like to try out without
going to the trouble of buying new tripod legs, my question is
this is it possible to buy the central post which the head fixes
to? If I take the little rubber cap off the end of the post it just
slides right out, I have looked on the Manfrotto website but
cant find anything on there, but it is not the easiest of websites
to navigate. Would appreciate any help.
Hi Jenny, As far as I know there are no upgrade options with the 728 Tripod – It’s designed to be a good all-rounder at a good price. I agree about the Manfrotto site – It’s not the easiest to navigate.
If it’s the Manfrotto 322 head you have got you hands on- it’s a great piece of kit, just add Manfrotto’s 190X-Pro legs – if you like good light tripod, or the 055X-Pro legs if you don’t carry it that much as they are the best in my humble opinion!
Thanks Paddy, yes it is the 322, I found it really good, my Dad made a short
bracket to hold it and we used it in the hides in Wales recently, found it really
responsive and would love to try it on a tripod. I contacted Manfrotto and they
sent me a very usefull breakdown of all the replaceable parts on my tripod and
the central column is R728,99B part no. So theoretically I should be able to get
my hands on one. If not I will probably go for new legs. Thanks for your help.
