Quick Questions about VR on Nikkor 18-200mm

So I just got a AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED for my D60 and was reading through the instructions and the notes on using vibration reduction. The last note reads:

If you set the AF start (AF-ON) button to ON on the camera, vibration reduction will not operate.

Does this mean if I use Auto-Focus I can’t use Vibration Reduction???

    Hi Jonathan

I have the 18-200VR and it is set up like this Camera D80 set to AF, Lens M/A,VR on & Normal….which works Ok, only need the Active setting if shotting from a car or boat…………also I turn off VR when using a tripod!!

Try setting the lens as above and at 200mm and focus on an object in the distance, and the do the same with the VR off you should notice the difference

    Great lens enjoy

    Cheers Steve

If you have your camera set up to auto focus with AF-ON then VR will only work when you press the shutter button. If you haven’t changed the AF setup on your camera then it will autofocus and shoot with the shutter button.
