Hi all…
does anyone use a 2400.. if yes then how do you rate it
is it worth investing in ?
how is the ink comsumption ?
thanks guys just want to be sure before i buyBarkerPhotographicParticipantHi Paul, The R2400 is a fantastic piece of kit. We have sold lots of them, and customers are always blown away by the quality it produces. However, while it is economical to use you should have a good look at it’s big brother the 3800 if you will be doing a lot of printing.
The 3800 is dearer to buy, but has loads of advantages. It prints A2, does not require you to “Clean Lines” (Waste ink!) when switching from Matt to Photo Black, but most importantly it’s ink cartridges are 5 or 6 times bigger that those in the 2400. The 3800 inks are almost exactly HALF the price per ml of the 2400, and you are far less likely to have to change an ink in the middle of a print run. I would be happy to quote you for either printer if you like?ben4130ParticipantI have an r2400, ive only printed twice from it as i bought it on wednesday at the focus on imaging expo in birmingham and then went away the next day, so far i have been unimpressed by the results ive gotten, although i am going to spend time on trying to calibrate it and stopping it from priting horizontal lines across the page
BarkerPhotographicParticipantHi Ben, If you continue to have difficulty try calling the Epson Ireland helpline on 01/6799016, they may agree to help you even though the machine was not bought in Ireland.
ben4130Participantpaul grayParticipantthanks for the advice i must admit i,m torn between the 2400 and the 3800 cost wise its a big jump
randomwayMemberI have a 2400 and I’m really happy with it. I print less than 10 pages a week, mostly A4 and it is perfect for what I need it to do. I was thinking about getting the 3800 or 4800, but except for the large ink tanks (which I really miss from the 2400), I didn’t need any more features. I print A2 maybe twice a year and then there is always someone here on PI or the photobox.ie to print it. With my d200 the good quality ends at A3, so the temptation is not great. I usually have at least one spare of every ink, two of the matte black and I change them when they get to the 5% mark.. If you let the levels below that, in the end the colours will go mad.
There is one more thing, canvas printing is not much fun with the r2400, get a large format printer if you need to print on canvas frequently.
ben4130ParticipantDoes anybody have a working driver for the Epson R2400 printer using osx?
I just cannot seem to get mine working.
Thanks

BenBarkerPhotographicParticipantHi Ben, This is the place to start: http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHome.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=zbff+oTjl0FfsAjU002FDBsyGPdJYjSXVqNJ or you can call them on this Dublin support No. 01/6799015 (From Landlines ONLY as the call is routed to the UK). Try doing a full Un-Install and start again, paying particular attention to detail ( Like NOT connecting the printer to computer until prompted by the install process). Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice, Much appreciated.
I had the same problem with mine Ben. i ended up having to delete and reinstall the drivers again.
Has been working perfect since then. i have done about 100 prints so far. everyone exceptional.sean.
ben4130ParticipantI have had to repeadedly do that and now the latest driver isnt working properly, When printing it doesnt have a print settings option, I just cant get the right driver from the epson site.
crazyhorseParticipantThe long awaited sucessor to the legendary r2400 has just been announced by Epson and will be in the shops in the U.K. by end of June, pity I,ve just purchased a new r2400 but it’s such a class printer I’m not too bothered.
brownieParticipantI’m using the 2400 for the past year and to me the results have been exceptional.
I print all the B&W A3 prints for our camera club IPF enteries and we have had
marvellous feedback from the judges about the quality of the printing….
I print a lot of my pictures and though i ca’nt tell you exactly how ecnomical
it is, compared to my Canon i9100 A3 printer it is way ahead.
