Hey,
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good quality rain cover?
Thanks
Padraic.
PaddysnapperParticipantOptec do a double pack for about 5stg not sure where you would get them here>
miki gParticipantI found that most rain covers are not worth the bother. Unless it is made for your specific camera model, they tend to be awkward to use at best (ie using control buttons), to being less than waterproof at worst. I throw a carrier bag over the camera if it is raining very heavy and haven’t had any problems (yet). Keep a dry cloth in your camera bag to wipe off any water that does get onto the camera/lens.
MartinParticipantI second the Optechs. Dont buy any of those expensive ones, useless
Search on Ebay for OPTECH RAINSLEEVE, you get 2 or 3 of them for around 7 euro. Have used them on small and large lenses

pleaderMemberthanks lads.
got them on ebay for 5.50.
i’ll give them a lash. Towel in the bag is not a bad idea all the same.EeyoreParticipantWas going to post the same question with the Rugby season starting back up.
BallymanParticipantA long lasting solution is the KATA e-702. It’s big enough to completely enclose a 40D with 70-200mm attached no bother. I can also use it with a 40D and 120-300mm f2.8 but the bottom won’t close on it with this combination but unless it’s raining upside down then this isnt a problem!
I also have the extender sleeve (I think it’s e704) but it’s massive and there is no need of this unless you are using a 400mm or bigger lens.
Of course you could also get the Aqua tech stuff but this is very expensive.
BarkerPhotographicParticipantHi Folks, We stock the OpTech plastic rain sleves (With and without flash options). They are 100% WATERPROOF and more or less a universal fit. A bit cumbersome to use- I was about to remove mine while shooting the Volvo Ocean Race from a RIB, A moment later I was covered by a wave – Brand New D700 & 80-400mm spared and lesson learned!
We also stock the “Expensive” Aquatech – but there is a reason that all the top sports guys use them – they are the best! They are a really good fit thanks to their custom eyepieces and allow better access to the camera than other covers. If you are a Pro and have to shoot no matter what the weather conditions Aquatech is the one for you. If you may be caught out in the rain once and again, keep a pack of the OpTech covers in your bag – the cheapest insurance you can get for camera!cathaldParticipantI have heard that these guys are good for the covers
the guy is a photographer himself and his wife makes the covers
thay will make up the cover to the size you need alsohttp://www.youfreeweb.com/CamoMac/
