Was thinking about doing something similar to this myself. Wanted to try and capture rain drps but every time I tried it comes out looking flat and boring. This is nice, the blurred background works really well. The drops are a too unsharp though for this to be great. Maybe closer with a ncie nice macro lens or something would have been better (I’m not to up on macro lenses though, sorry) to get closer and sharper to the drops. Great idea though.
I was quite tempted to get closer but did not want to drown my gear. :(
If I had I could have gotten a much sharper shot. Maybe I should invest in a cambrella.
I’ve only seen this post now… bit behind the times :-)
Really love the picture – disagree with the comments above – think the scale and distance work really well, and in terms of it being an abstract image, it gives the viewer something to consider. It’s a beautiful image in terms of coour and texture – on top of this it’s full of life and not the typical “pretty drop” shot.
Use a garden sprinkler or hose and spray rain in front of your subject and the lens from a distance…Mount your camera on a tripod and use a remote control or self timer…..
A little project to try some day – at least you wont ruin your gear…It’s very effective !
