Rapeseed Field Sunset, Newry (new image added)

Brian_CParticipant
yip that’s a smashing shot alright. Very nice Gary. Can I ask, is there any HDR going on here or any in camera D-Active or D-lighting?
Lovely tones throughout the image.
Gary McParlandParticipantMartinParticipantI’m going to say something a little different, not trying to be negative just being honest….
I’m not gone on the shot, i think the post processing on it is a bit over the top.
The colour and saturation levels just don’t look real.Maybe this is the look your going for if so ignore my comments.
I like the composition though
FujiChrome Velvia film in my book is as saturated as a landscape should be, this is beyond that….The tree looks out of focus or something but that could be just jpeg compression and might be fine in full size
If it was my shot I would reprocess from the start as I do like the composition
Regards
MCianMcLiamParticipantI’d be tending towards Martin’s thinking, I could live with the landscape perhaps but the clouds are a touch too dark and contrasty to be believable to me and the colours too a bit too saturated. Would love to see it with a more restrained sky, the late evening light looks gorgeous and the composition really works for me.
(EDIT: I’m looking at this on my crappy work laptop so the sky looks pretty darkened at the top of my screen, less so at the bottom when I scroll down!)
MDCPhotographyParticipantRGH_PhotographyMemberAmazing shot Gary lovely work, your tempting me to go in land more often with shots like that !!
Gary McParlandParticipantHeres another from that shoot. Took on board some of the previous comments from, Cian and Martin and tried not to go too overboard with the processing although i still like the result of the first one. Always appreciate the honest opinions on this site.
martin also commented that The tree looks out of focus but it definitely isnt. Its the wispy branches hanging down that give off this illusion and i couldnt understand it at first myself.
Like your opinions on this too :)Rgds
Gary
5faytheParticipantI like this too Gary.
I can see the reasoning in all the other comments you got.
Thats one of the interesting things about this photography lark.
There can be so many different ideas about the same image. It’s nice when so many people take the time to comment.
I might crop a little from the sky, I might crop a little from
the foreground and maybe I might leave it as it is.They all look good to me.
Cheers,
John.
Edit: I love the curve of the field in this last image.
JMac-2006ParticipantGary,
Both really nice images, pity about that fuzzy tree though, bring an axe with you next time – only kidding :)
Brian_CParticipantTwo great shots, but for me number 2 is by far the best. I think what really makes this shot is that splash of red in the cloud on the left. Top stuff.
bingbongbiddleyParticipantI have to agree with Martin and Cian. The processing looks over the top to me, but if you’re happy with the image that’s what counts. I do like the composition and the nice light.
The second image is great. Really special and great point of view.
MarkKeymasterNot gone on the over saturation of the first image. Second one is much better in fairness.
Looks like a very interesting location you’ve found yourself :)
