RAW file query

Hi folks. I?ve a question re RAW files.
I?m using 2 Apple Macs (one in work & one at home) and CS2
I?ve have a number of RAW files that will open in Camera RAW in work, but will not open in Camera RAW at home.
An example of a file name is: _MG_6415.CR2

Imported many other files and these were called, for example ?IMG_6415.CR2?. And I have no problem opening any of these on either Mac.

So, does anyone know why the files without the ?I? at the front of the file name will open on one machine and not on another?

(I?ve tried just typing the ?I? at the start of the file name but it still says it?s a unrecognisable file.)

It should be nothing to do with the filename. Are you sure you’re using the same version of raw converter on both machines? Check for updates. Adobe have had a number of updates for raw formats.

What version of raw software are you using?

Using 3.7 in work. Not sure what I have at home!
Updated OS and whole CS suite last Sat so all is fine there.
Maybe CS suite i have isn’t up-to-date with latest RAW plugin (3.7) . Will download it and try it later.

I think it’s raw 3.4 which comes with the software, so hopefully you are just missing the update.

The only difference between the “IMG” and “_MG” files are that the “IMG” jpegs are in sRGB colour profile, while “_MG” jpegs are in AdobeRGB colour profile. As your problem is with the raw files (which don’t use these profiles), i’m not quite sure why they won’t open? I think the RAW files have this prefix purely for consistency, but i can’t be sure.

Thanks Richy. That would make sense alight.
However … I downloaded Camera RAW 3.7 yesterday, brought it home and dropped it in and bingo! Worked a dream. I’m back in business. The default RAW software with CS2 was 3.4.
