Really juicy colour film?
-
AimeeParticipant
can anyone advise on a really juicy, sink your teeth in, colour film?
don’t want to use slide film as i don’t have any aperture/shutter speed control on the camera i’m using.Want to use colour film with a punch..
jb7ParticipantI can’t really assist you-
its been too long since I shot colour neg-Velvia’s colours are very saturated,
but thats a reversal film-Though it seems to me that the saturation sliders go up as well as down,
and that the scanning and editing stages will be just as important as selecting a film-j
mortParticipantI’ve seen some great results with Kodak Portra 160 colour neg film. It comes in NC, VC and UC (Natural, Vivid and Ultra Colour). Haven’t tried it yet but I have some on order from 7dayshop.
markcapilitanParticipantFuji Reala ASA100 is pretty good…only colour print I would use, before I moved to Velvia.
Reala is Fuji’s so called pro print film, where as Superia is their consumer version. It’s as juicy as Fuji’s print gets…but nothing gets near the old Velvia 50 tranny.
ladgie353ParticipantLeftist RhetoricParticipantI would definitely say Fuji Superia 100, I have a couple of pics on my myspace page taken with Superia, http://www.myspace.com/leftistrhetoric they are both beside each other one of a boat and one of stones leadin into lough neagh, hope this helps.
AimeeParticipantlooks good. cheers. Have a feeling i may have checked this out once before ages ago. But not too sure.
Leftist RhetoricParticipantOne thing I forgot to say, I mostly always use a polariser with Superia 100 and the results have been fantastic so far.
fluffy_penguinsParticipanti use a camera with no manual controls (the plastic fantastic: holga) and use slide film with no problems: fuji velvia 50.
as long as it’s sunny works great… super saturated colours. i’m usually laying on the floor, shooting into the sun with it, as in backlit flowers, etccath
AimeeParticipanthey cath, yeah i’ve got a holga and have tried the slide film in it ( have had some disaster results).
I have a few that seem to be too dark to scan so am going to see if they print OK.
they should some out because that roll was taken on a sunny day and the slides look clear.JimmyGParticipantFor the Holga i’d use superia 100 or 400 depending on the conditions. If you’re not sure about exposure err on the side side of over-exposure as these films will handle it – whereas a slide will just go white. Plus it’s cheap as – and damn punchy.
