I used to read a lot of novels – but usually only have time to do so now on holidays.

I am making an effort to read more history books – to fill a gap in my education – particularly Irish history.

I have recently read “A Short History of the Irish Revolution 1912 to 1927” by Richard Killeen, published by Gill & McMillan.

I can recommend this to anyone who needs to gain an understanding of that time in our history.

Killeen draws some interesting conclusions and observations that place a lot of that era into context.

The book is also an easy read – I read it in one day while travelling to London and back.
