Recommend a new camera?

    Hi everybody.
Im currently looking for a new camera that will keep me going for a couple of years. The last camera I bought was maybe 7 years ago and has done me fine until about a year ago when it’s just become too cumbersome and that to bring out and that to different events and conferences I now go to with work.
In talking to various people Ive been heavily recommended to buy in the Panasonic range though maybe you can offer alternatives? I’m looking for something that will be fairly compact, decent zoom, standard camera really that I can just point and shoot with but I’d like something that wont be outdated too quickly. Im looking to spend no more than 300 euro.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    Hi browskee,

I’d recommend getting the current edition of What Digital Camera – read the reviews in your price range.

Decide on a ‘Point & Click’ or an SLR. Each have their merits.

After 7 years taking pictures – maybe its time to go that step further? A Canon 1000D would be a good choice.

    Hope this helps,

Theres a few cameras on the market that suits your needs but if you could stretch and extra 100 euro the Nikon Coolpix P100 would be a very nice upgrade and it has full HD recording with stereo sound if you ever want to mingle in that department. It also has quiet a nice zoom range on it (26 – 678mm VR* and a macro mode that focuses to 1cm which is very impressive. Not owing one so I cant comment on performance best thing to do is head into a camera shop and pick up a few and see how they go.
