Red Arrows

    Hi,

Along with half of Ireland i was in Galway on Sat. The Red Arrows were simply amazing. Below are a few of my shots. I’ve never tried anything like this before so I’m pretty happy with the results. I used a Canon 400D with 55 – 250 IS.

There hasn’t been any proper post processing done to these as I don’t have any decent software, so if anyone would like to play with the photos feel free.

    Cheers,
    Mel.b

Loving how you can see the upside down one in this…

Gutted that I chopped off the ship in this one. Have another one similar with the Red Arrows a bit closer but with more of the ship cut off :(

Glad you liked the event and you got some good shots.
Last one being my fave, mainly for the formation but also the lovely deep blue sky. The ship one is good too but shame its chopped.
Agree with you, these really need some PS work, mainly a sharpen and some colour balnace/lifting

    Hi Mel.b,

I’d say you have some really good images here.

As suggested some processing, especially if you have RAW versions, could
    make them even better.

A software package like Photoshop Elements is not mad expensive.
It is a powerful piece of software and basic operations are quite simple to learn.

    Cheers,
    John.

    Nice set,

I would agree with what has been said above.

The last one needs to be brightened while the others need to be darkened
with the contrast being boosted too.

some good shots in there all right.

    Thanks everyone.

I used to have CS2 however my laptop was stolen :( I then got a new laptop that had elements on it and also the Canon DPP that I used most, however that has now basically crashed, so I am currently using the work laptop that doesn’t have any photo processing software on it. I did show RAW + JPEG, so when I get the new laptop fixed I should be able to do some post processing.

    Cheers,

    Hi Mel
Try downloading freeware like Picaso or Gimp and these allow basic pic editing.
    Cheers, Dee
