Looks like a nice spot David and i like the water movement.
I would have been tempted to get closer to the groynes and use them more in the foreround leading into the shot. Also the horizon isnt straight but thats a quick fix in photoshop.

    nice shot David,

love the subtle colours, Gary has a point about the composition
but it was probably not possible to get closer with those waves.

The image in general looks slightly out of focus? that could also be
from the compression, something to think about though.

I think I will have too bring the wellies next time. Thanks for the feedback and I agree I seem to be having a problem with the sharpness of my shots in general I am trying to sort out but not having much luck.

    Hi davidbbb,

For a shot like this i would only use a Tripod, manual focus, LIVE view in AV mode, ISO 100 and aperture of between f/8-f/11.

I may then use TV mode with an ND4 or a polariser- and slow the sutter speed down.

Live view can magnify x10 so you can focus one third into the scene and ensure pin sharp results every time.

This particular location has HUGE potential for an awesome evening shot. Get the wellies and the tripod and read again Gary’s advice again about where to position yourself and using the stakes to lead your eye into the scene.

    Hope this helps.

Thank for all the feedback and I will be trying again soon and with the above advice it should make for a better shot. Thanks again.and the live view sounds like a really good idea to be honest I would have never thought of it.
