Very nice shot. The impact of the colour in the boat is really strong against the muted tones of the landscape and sky.. in fact I thought you had used selective colouring in parts… Composition is spot on placing the boat on the third works well IMO. Well done :D
I like the first one better, but it is a bit of a half-way house. If you want that sort of effect, I would make it red boat with everything else completely black and white. The background seems to have low saturation colour left, which I would remove.
An alternative of course, would be to leave the colour completely in the image – red is a very dominant colour in any event, and if the background has lots of green then there is good contrast.
I am only getting to grips with power of PS as regards coluring, burning, dodging etc. The old red boat provided a great subject becuase of it’s colour in such an otherwise muted landscape. I took several other photos. Some are included below.
The third one of the last crop is the best of the lot for me.
probably the simplest composition possible, but I think it works because of the clear rendition of each of the elements, good sky, good land, good water, and good lines to set it all off.
I’m still not sure about the intensity of the red, I think I would be tempted to take it down a bit.
Just goes to show, Its difficult to make selections-
