Red rose, waterdrop and sepia

    Taken with:
    Canon 60D
    Tamron 90mm f2.8
    2secs f5.6
Flash was bounce off the white ceiling.
    ISO100
    2sec self-timer
    Tripod

Rose was placed on the kitchen worktop beside kitchen window. The Sepia filter was selected in the camera and then I upped the red channel in Photoshop and added a little more contrast and some sharpening.

    Hi Brian,

Not crazy about the first shot – not a great fan of sepia, BUT the second is a beautiful pic – the clarity, colour and dof are wonderful!
Would look great as a large poster!!

    Well done

It works much better as a colour image nice detail, d.o.f and composition. The detail in the out of focus areas in the sepia image have blended together, not visaully appealing imho.

Yeah Brian. The colour version is by far the stronger one.

I have always felt that one of the things that attracts us to photograph flowers is the colours they have so I have never been a fan of flowers in monochrome.

The only good version I have ever seen is a B&W of White Lillies against a black background. Bloke in the club won a Silver medal for that :)

I prefer the monochrome version of the image although I think the DOF is too great.
I also think that over half the image is lost & with a little more background detail it would make it
    a lot more interesting.

I love the colour version, it’s stunning! Would gladly hang it on my wall! :)

Colour for me too! Not a rose though, a Gerberra methinks! But good image anyway :D

I agree with the other comments, I like the sepia but it’s missing something… so the colour shot is my favourite, great work.
