Red squirrel close up
-
Paul WhParticipant
Irish red squirrel, Emo Court, Co Laois, this one is taken using a Tokina 100mm macro lens, when relaxed they don’t seem to notice the shutter clicking, this is taken at a feeding station with a hide just beside it, the hide is built into an old drain hence I’m down at their level.
mwallParticipantgreat capture Paul, looks like you almost hand feeding him!
this is on film slr?
MikeSeaviewParticipantPaul WhParticipantThanks Dave and Mike for the comments, this is a film image from a few months back, pretty certain it’s Kodak VC 400, from the last few rolls that I had before they changed it.
Paul
miki gParticipanthobobParticipantwell done Paul .. I’ve never get much more than a red blur when trying to capture red squirrels they move around so quick .. did you use a remote?
shutterbugParticipantLovely shot Paul, would love to know how to find the hide, I will be visiting
there in a couple of weeks and would love to see Reds.ShutterlightMemberPaul WhParticipantHi guys
Thanks again for the comments, “hobob, I didn’t use a remote, good camo and taking my time, in fairness I hide the nuts along that pole that he’s sitting on so I normally get a few images before the shutter frightens it back up the tree but if you wait long enough they sometimes come back, “shutterbug” you’ll have to send me a pm, these hides are just lots of waste forest put together as cover, nothing fancy, I may be able to meet you to show you one, I only live a few km away from this forest, it’s on the outskirts of Emo Court.
shutterbugParticipantPadraigParticipantPaul that a great shot. Great low angle and really natural. Dedication pays off.
Paul WhParticipantThanks for the comment Padraig, I had it in my mind for a while to get right down with these guys and an old drain did the trick, I can sit in a chair for some of these rather than lie on the ground.
