Remote Control for your camera?

I found these on ebay: Remote Controls for Canon 400d
I believe they can be very useful for taking a photo (with you in it) instead of using a timer… and also to take a photo without touching the camera if you want to make sure it is exactly still.
Not sure which one to get, there are loads, and all are pretty cheap. These looks pretty good:

ThanksDo you have a laptop? If so, then you have all you need to remote control your camera. You might need a longer USB lead, but other than that there’s no need to purchase anything else as the necessary software is supplied with the camera.
I don’t exactly want to have to lug a laptop along with me for taking photos….
I got a remote for my 350D. Cost around ?25 (I think..it was bought as a present…in England)
Its very good for self portraits, though the range isn’t fantastic, it does for most things.
The main problem I have for it is that the sensor is at the front of the camera only, making it impossible to use to capture wildlife etc. I’m going to invest in a cable shutter release for this.
I have a Canon IR remote, and use it a lot for long exposures with the camera on a tripod. As Jody has said, the fact that the sensor is in front of the camera is a pain – all fine and well if you like self portraits, but annoying for anything else. I find it not to be the most sensitive in the world (I’ve a 300D) and the shutter doesn’t always trip first time. In practice it’s not usually a problem really for me as I’m not using it in get it or miss it situations

As John said there. I use mine for long exposures more than self portraits…forgot to mention that yesterday. It’s handy for that too as you don’t have to worry about handshake on a bulb exposure
