‘Replacement’ Cartridges

Hi all, I’ve been meaning to purchase the epson r2400/r2880 printer, and have been looking around the web at varoius suppliers of the ink cartridges. The epson’genuine’ cartridges are available at about €12 each, while the ‘replacement/compatable’ cartridges are much cheaper at about €4 each.

Question is – is there really a substantial difference in terms of print quality regarding both of these?

    Thanks,

    Keith..

Hiya Keith …simple answer is yes … big difference …

its not just the quality of the print which is drastically affected, but the heads on the printer will block much faster,

I have the r2400 and Its a cracking printer, quality prints first time every time … a friend has one as well and the spurious inks give him no end of bother,

Phil, thanks for your reply, I think i’ll stick with the epson cartridges so, blockages are not worth the trouble.

    Thanks again,

    Keith..

I don’t print myself, but all the posts I’ve read here on the site would favour sticking with the quality inks.
In your case, the Epson ones.

You will invalidate the guarantee if you use 3rd party inks – it seems safer to stick with the genuine ones.

Hi Keith…i have a 2400 as well and i can vouch for everything that has
been said already…stick with the original Epson inks…i buy them for
£8.99 from 7Day Shop and it makes sense to buy as much as you can
afford from them in one go, as they only charge £7.95 shipping to
Ireland no matter how much stuff you order…once its all on that order.

Also have a Canon i9100 printer and a few years ago i went the compatible
ink road…it was a sad story really…just to say it cost a lot to get it back to
its original state…lots of Canon paper wasted etc.

Thanks Noel, I guess that was a hard lesson learned. As for the shipping that’s not bad from 7dayshop, once it’s all on the same order, i’ll remember that.

    Keith..
