Hi all, I’ve just recently purchased a new sb 900 Nikon flash gun and for some reason which I cannot figure out it’s staying in manual mode on the zoom. Obviously I want it back to what it should be at but the default setting will not overide the manual setting. Any help appreciated as I have a communion at eleven this morning.
Could it simply be the custom setting (Zoom should be set to ‘off’)? I dont have one but was using one at a workshop when another photographer was unable to do the opposite, he couldn’t set a manual zoom setting. I would find it hard to believe that the 900 has no manual override for the zoom setting but we couldn’t get it to work and he ended up using my 800 for the shot instead.
Thanks Cian, Have tried that and I did manage to get it back to auto setting once last week but the next time I went to use it was back in manual mode and I cannot change the settings now. Its obviously something simple but I cannot hack it. Could only happen to me.
Hi Mark, Yes I had the diffuser enabled, that must be why I could not change back to auto zoom. Thanks a mill for that, it was beginning to do my head in but as is always the case with me it was something simple in the end. What’s the logic behind it though, does not seem to make much sense to me, I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s been caught out by this. Thanks again for the tip.
