I don’t usually do any landscape stuff, but I couldn’t help shooting this scene a couple of months ago.
Comments/suggestions appreciated.
LoGillParticipantwhat a sky
Stunning.. maybe the shot could be more symmetrical if you’d stood in the middle of the road – but i like it
Well done :)

richiehatchMemberWhat a sky…! I agree with Lorraine… I think it would have been better in the middle of the road and maybe a bit lower… Is that in Wicklow

neilmcshaneParticipantWhat a SKY indeed. Just a quick convert to BW and crop. What do you think.
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantNothing against Neilshane here….but just wonders why alot of people always want to see what an image would look like in b/w…just curious. Love the clouds, and I think it works way better in colour than in b/w

Thanks Lorraine! I deliberately moved away from the middle of the road. I was trying to avoid symmetry. I should probably have taken the shot both ways. I may just have to go back :D

I wish it was in Wicklow. I could easily go back and stand in the middle of the road if it was…
It’s in Arizona.BeastParticipantneilmcshane wrote:

Hi Neil,
I’m not gone on the B&W, but the crop works very well imho.
Thanks!LoGillParticipantoh you know – if you had, i’d probably be saying you should have stepped to the right :)
you should be pleased with it – and hear our voices nagging next time :D

shutterbugParticipantShucks I thought it was the Sugar Loaf
Great shot and yes it is a fantastic sky but it is the colours
also that make it good, some shots lend themselves to black
and white but I agree that the colour is “awesome” as they
say in Arizona.Shutterbug[/quote]
ajParticipantdavenewtParticipantLove the crop, keep it in colour… and wow, do those clouds pop out at you! Cracker!
Take it easy,

Hi JohnnyMcMillan,
The same can be said about colour ” Why does every shot have to be in colour?”
When colour is removed from a image you now look at that image with form texture and shape in mind.
Again it is the way i see my images if you have not looked at my website.
And again this is not everybody’s cup of tea or coffee. These are only my views etc… :!:
FlipflipParticipantIf this was my shot, it would be definately black and white. A really heavy, with lots of contrast style black and white.
I like the colours in this shot alright, i just think that it would benefit from a real Ansel Adams feel if you get me, but that could be because Ive seen a shot of his with similar content in that style.
RobMemberColour gets my vote too, but each to their own, horses for courses and all that…
Great imageRob.
