And Piques handball was an optical illusion? C’mon now, if it happened at Old Trafford they’d be complaining for the next 10 years.
Nothing to do with Drogba…he dives all the time….just like that Portugese young fella…Ronaldo :DBMParticipantnp72ParticipantNoely F wrote:

Nothing to do with Drogba…he dives all the time….just like that Portugese young fella…Ronaldo :DYou do realise there are regular secret training camps run by the coaching staff at Old Trafford, for the best part of 30 years…at the Manchester Ship Canal. No wonder they have it down to an art, especially Miss Ronaldo
Mick451Participantnfl-fanParticipantI didn’t really care who won last night.
Chelsea will feel hard done by. I think they had at least one valid penalty shout, we’ve all seen them given for less. It irritates me a little how inconsistent refereeing is in general.
That being said a one goal lead at home is always flakey. Chelsea should have pushed harder for a second goal, especially when Barca were down to 10 men, but they were pretty crap.
So I don’t think they were robbed… they really just shot themselves in the foot with their negative play. Barca were there for the taking, playing even worse than Chelsea, with 10 men.
Noely FParticipantMick451ParticipantcathaldParticipantAgree Chelsea were robbed but nobody fault but there own
They had the talent on the pitch to go ahead and score more but didn’t
A bit funny that the handball was by an ex Man utd player
Bring on the BarcaCathal
markst33ParticipantDrogbas reputation as a diver has at last come back to haunt him. If he had not gone down like he was shot, so many times in his career, chances are that he may have won a penalty, even though none of the incidents involving him last night ACTUALLY were penalties. Piques handball was a defo. That was a terrible decision by the referee, as was the sending off of Abidal.
Dunphy was right last night :? when he alluded to the fact that Football needs to do what other sports have done regarding embracing technology. Personally I think there should be a Video ref and each team should get one call per half if they feel that a referee has made a bad decision. Tennis does it, doesn’t it ? Players in Wimbledon get so many calls per set or something like that. Rugby is not slowed down that much by the use of the video referee. American football has it. And footballers are never going to be like golfers or snooker players who call fouls on themselves.
Anyway its good to see a non all premiership final.
justaguyParticipantSo delighted Barca got threw. They played all the football last night. Well deserved. As for the penalty claims. you lose some you win some.
I don’t think video refs are a good solution to the sport. You need this thing of feeling being robbed to keep the emotion going in the sport.
But I do think to save the sport they have to rewind the whole Bosman thing.
3 foreigners per team and the rest should be from their own country.nfl-fanParticipantI’m not convinced about the 3 player rule at all.
Brazil win World Cups when most of their best players all play abroad.
England are crap because they just are. They talk about how the Premiership is the best league in the World, and then moan cos they can’t find a left sided winger or a goalkeeper cos the league is full of foreigners
If each team could only field 3 foreigners half of the Irish squad might find themselves either warming the bench or back looking for a game with Bohemians, Shamrocks Rovers etc.
I just wanna see good players do what they do best… Villa are probably one of the stronger sides with mainly English players… and I’d struggle to get out of bed to watch them if they were playing in me back yard on a cold n’ wet day.

.
Thing is in my home country young lads don’t get to play because the league is full of second rated foreigners. clubs can not afford the real big ones. plus the premiership offers so much money that its impossible for clubs to hold on to their good players. a contract doesn’t say anything anymore. And if my club (ajax) doesn’t qualify every now and again I lose interest. That goes with a lot europeen countries. Uefa will lose in the end because its only a handfull of counties watching the champions league (ie England an Spain)
It might be good for English club football, but what has the national team achieved the last few years
nfl-fanParticipantI actually totally disregarded young players there… which was wrong of me.
The way football is it’ll never be right. Too much money allocated to a small portion of clubs. The rich get richer and the rest struggle along.
Some sort of salary cap and transfer structure is what’s really required… but it’ll never happen in soccer.
