Super shot i really like the cool blue cast to this (presume you lowered the white balance). Normally im not into long exposures but it works in this case. Only thing i would have done differently is possibly show more sky(bring horizon to around the top third)

Really nice shot and great use of the 50 mm prime i would say the pic is very sharp

Thats a cracking shot. How long an exposure did you use?
I really love the light in the top of the frame , i presume that is a lighth house?

    Cheers, Dee

Another great shot – I have been a bit busy this week and haven’t dipped into PI much… but have noted a few crakers from you.

    Keep them coming.

Thanks for the comments. The exposure was 25 seconds at f/11. That is indeed a lighthouse at the top of the frame. Regular PI contributor Thorsten Merz has a cracking shot of it here: http://www.pbase.com/tmerz/image/56227725 . The 50mm f/1.8 is a great little lens – at a giveaway price – and I really should use it more often.

That’s a great shot John. I live about 4 miles away and I really should try and get down there more often. Whenever I go, conditions just don’t seem to be right (or is that just me making excuses!)

Anyway, here’s my effort, which you referred to above (appreciate you not linking to the image directly, I would have done the same).

Clearly nowhere near as good as yours.

Oh and Ijust spotted your Youghal Bridge shot too. That’s one of my favourites of yours. I recall you have some super shots of Glenbower wood too that I’m sure would go down a treat here! Maybe you’ve put them up already and I haven’t found them yet! I’m a little bit behind here and don’t normally venture into the landscape forums.

Many thanks Thorsten. I think your photo is THE Roches Point shot and I would give my eye teeth to duplicate it. I haven’t posted the old Glenbower shots yet – I’ve only started posting to this forum in the last couple of weeks.

    Regards,

Beutiful shot I think that the long exposure and the blue cast add to the mood of this shot,

    Nicely done!!!!!!!!! :D

Just adding my praise for both shots, both great for different reasons.

Two lovely shots. Carrigman I’ll comment on yours as it’s your post. Really superb shot, love the water and the detail in the rocks. Class. If it were mine I’d have tried to up the red sky a little more using the Red channel in Saturation tool in PS. That aside super shot.

    Class.

    Great shots one and all.

Carrigman – as previous as it is your thread I’ll comment on yours alone. The colour does it for me and the smoothing of the sea. Would it have been possible to have gotten a little lower to reduce the amount of open sea in the shot?

Not a criticism, just a query.

    Alan.

Good point, Alan. Yes, I probably could have gone lower. Now I have an excuse to go back there and try some more shots!

    Thanks.

    John.
