Rome in Mono
-
markst33Participant
I was in Rome for the first time at the weekend. My god, what a city. It is without doubt the most amazing city I have ever been in.
Its very difficult to get a shot which has not been seen a thousand times before from this truly beautiful city.
Either there are too many people in the way or theres too much traffic in the way or the weather or light is not good enough.
I have tried using monochrome to capture some different shots.
But still for me …Rome has no equal.

jodal1975ParticipantOnly looking at them on my phone mark but I have to say it looks like a great set . Your mono conversions look excellent . It really is a beautiful city isn’t it !?!? I was lucky enough to get 4 days there about 2 years ago. There’s something to see on/around every corner … Literally !! The basilicas are awe inspiring , nevermind the pantheon , colosseum , Capitol Hill etc . Glad you enjoyed the trip. Looking forward to seeing these on a big screen. I’d love to get back there , unfortunately I had only just bought my camera at the time and didn’t know how to use it … Or how to compose a pic ….. So I came home with about 1000 bad holiday snaps ! :-(

Yeah, my vocabulary is not broad enough to describe Rome is any more glowing terms than others have before me.
I was surprised at how easy it was to get around. The Metro is brilliant and the price for the Colosseum and Palatine Hill is unbelievably good value.
We did a guided tour of the Vatican with a guy called Roberto for €40 each. Best €40 I ever spent. Not only was he extremely knowledgable, he also had a, shall we say “modern day attitude” to the Catholic church and he was hilarious on top of it all. He pointed out stuff in the paintings we saw which you would miss completely if you did the tour on your own and he fired questions at the people in the tour.
I have a photo of him I must post up as i would recommend him bigtime. he was with a company called RoundRoma tours or something like that.
I have posted some more shots up in different threads. have a look if you get a chance.
Mark.
