    Took this yesterday

    canon 1000d
    canon f4 L lens
    iso 800
    shutter-1/800
    200mm

What is the best af mode to shoot on ? i used servo
also do you set the focus to manual or auto?

I used the 800 iso so i could get a hi shutter speed to freeze the image but there is a good bit of noise

    any help would be great

    thanks

Hi Marty, no expert at all especially in sports, but I would have
selected continuous autofocus, drive mode (multiple exposures) and
if you were only shooting at 200mm then anything over 1/200th sec
would have been ok, so having the ISO up that much wasnt really
necessary. If you shoot at f4 and ISO 200 you should have had a
    shutterspeed that was fast enough.

They dont look too noisy anyway!

I don’t see anything wrong per se, with those picts.

Nothing wrong with a little noise.

Shoot as high an ISO as you feel comfortable to get a high shutter speed. 1/400 sec should be enough to freeze action of someone running.

You should use the centre focus point only, AI servo, and track with the motion. Autofocus should work fine.

Use whatever works for you though.

    thanks lads

yeah i wasnt really sure what shutter speed to use and i only had 2 chances to get the shot of the person haha
I used centre point focus , it seems fine but just wanted to make sure that is the best or easy way to get good results

    thanks again
