The name of the photo does not corespond with the picture.
You should have much more details of the stairs.JohnnyMcMillanParticipantRusty staircase? How can you tell from that view?
I’m pretty much with Roberto here I’m afraid. There’s just not enough in focus in this shot to contain any interest. If you added some more contrast and cropped off the front fence…and some how ZOOMED IN…than it might be a rusty staircase

bit harsh guys…..it is a rusty staircase whether it takes up the frame or not (and I’m prepared to take Jakki’s word for it even if you’re not  ). Dont get so tied up in the title, and offer a relative beginner a bit more encouragement?

I did my comment at work. Believe it or not but I was thinking about my comment to way home. It is harsh. Sorry Jakki.
I think that the theme is good and the subject as well. The house looks old and the stairs can be ‘very nice rusty’. To show that, I would go much closer or use telelens. I would face the stairs and include the windows into the photo.
The conversion to b&w is not spot on. I would increase the contrast. You can find lot of good tutorials about conversion here in the forum.joolsveerParticipantJakki
Is this in Belfast? I think I recognise the door hanging by the window. I think they do timber stripping.
