DessieParticipantwould love to go here when is the best time as im from the north and what would be the norm for equipment i have a 5d mark 3 with 300 2.8 lens would this be ok
SeaviewParticipantDessie, anytime in the next three to four weeks should be good, they should start feeding their young soon. Your setup would be more than adequate. I was out a few years ago, its a great trip, midweek would be best as it would be quite.
Dave.

hotjohn01ParticipantTrying to plan a visit at the moment. Any pointers would be awesome, like whats the craic with the boat over and stuff ?, Thanks a million for confirming my need to go there !!
NikonfanParticipantHi John,
The boat usually goes most days I think at approx 1030/1100 and returns about 1600/1700 ….Price is €25 per person….Advisable to ring Declan Bates to book your place 057-2529736Cheers.
DessieParticipantwould it be to late to go in the first week in July as my wife’s a school teacher and she not off till then
KennyParticipantGreat shots! Would a 70-200mm be long enough to get some decent close ups? I’m heading down on Saturday but 200mm is as long as I can go :(
NikonfanParticipantThanks guys…..Early July should be ok but not 100% sure….Alot of the birds just up and leave I hear…..Although I think everything is a bit behind this year……..Alot of the puffins landed within 20 feet of us so 200mm should be ok……it’s perfect for the gannets.
