I’m a confirmed, hopefully the public transport will get me there in time :) !

Where are you travelling from? As far as I know there are no buses/trains that go into Kilmore Quay, only
to Rosslare and it would be a few miles from Rosslare.

Darn! I’m going from Dublin, so I guess I could get a taxi from Rosslare? Early early start for me, then :)

Would anyone be able to give a lift from Dublin city centre or Heuston, please? I’d be more than happy to pay for petrol and toll!

Hi Chairman, have checked the trains and the first train to Rosslare Harbour on
a Sunday doesnt leave till 10.25am which would be too late, buses run from Busarus
(no.002) one leaving at 5.30am and 6.30am (seem to be hourly) Might be worth
considering going down on the Saturday???

    Grand!

I’m looking forward to meeting folks! I recognise some of the names from image comments and what not on here though I’ve not been around for a while.

Dont forget water, grub and hat.

Praying for semi overcast. Sorry, but my last trip was in full sun, and just too hard to shoot a black and white bird getting detail all over :-)

    Hi Jenny.
I think I will have to bow out of this outing. I managed to change work rosters with another lad, but the guy that was giving me a lift got caught to work on Sunday in his job & no suitable bus times. :( Maybe next time.

Just as a matter of interest Mick, what gear do you bring with you?
I dont want to bring stuff I wont need and yet dont want to get there
and wish I had brought something!

I will bring my 18-200 definitely but will I need anything longer? and what about
    a tripod?

Tripod will probably get in the way. A Monopod would be a safe bet, bring your longest lens and also a wide angle lens as you wil ahve the choice to shoot the island with the clear blue.green water and also the gannet colony with hundreds of gannets flying over your head. I would like to state that the trek to the gannets is a bit hard, so too much gear will only weigh you down.

The trick is to arrive at the puffins and if they are none there, move to Gannets. If the puffins are there ,stay for about 2 hours, have lunch for 1/2 hour and move to gannets, this will give you 1 1/2 hours at the gannets before heading back at 4pm. You will be surprised how fast 5 hours will go.

    Essentials:
    Hat
    Sunscreen
    Water
    Good Boots (not runners)
No Shorts as too many nettles etc on the way to Gannets

My bag will consist of the following
    2 Camera Bodies
    300mm lens
    17-40 lens
    Converter
    Batteries and cards
    Monopod
Flash ( to try get the catchlight in razorbills eye)

You may get your feet wet in getting from boat to land so wear appropriate footwear.

There may be other intending passengers so some of you may have to wait for the next sailing. I don’t think it’s possible to book your passage.
