San Jose State University

davedunneParticipant
A few weeks ago I took a short walk around the campus of San Jose State University (in California) with my Harrow 151. Here are a few of the shots from that day.
In case you are wondering about about the story behind some of the elements in the photos, the “plank chair” in the first two belongs to the fraternity Tau Delta Phi but it’s actual purpose is not confirmed. There are rumors that pledges to the fraternity were originally put up there but these days it is extended from the tower in a symbolic gesture.
The last two photos are of a sculpture in the university grounds depicting a moment from the 1968 Olympics where SJSU alumni Tommie Smith and John Carlos made a silent protest for human rights after winning gold and bronze in the 200m dash. You can read more about that moment here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1968_Olympics_Black_Power_salute
EddieParticipantMartinOCParticipantInteresting stuff.
I googled to find out what a harrow was and I got to your flickr photo page.
Nice collection of cameras, I guess you’re not on dpreview often :)M

Martin, I do check dpreview from time to time. I’m waiting for Olympus to release this retro looking micro four thirds cameras (if it ever becomes more than just a concept)

I think that old school styling will fit in nicely with the rest of my collection even if it is digital.
MartinOCParticipantIts a nice looking camera, I do think the four thirds thing will take off.
The need for a big mirror box and huge lenses is declining.I’ve invested in m-mount lenses and hope the same logic will make cheap digital rangefinders viable.
Epson-cosina disbanded their RD-1 development team long ago, I heard, so I don’t don’t know where it will come from, [unless Leica goes down market].M
