This is very much a ‘holiday snap’. It was very much taken ‘on the fly’ and I didn’t have any real time to sort out composition etc. or wait for the optimum light. There was a fairly strong wind as well so the sunflowers were dancing all over the palce. I managed to get to the area around an hour and a half before sunset. I used my standard travelling camera gear. A 350D and a 17-85mm IS EF-S lens and a polarizer filter. I am still not 100% happy with the 17-85mm it can I feel be a little soft sometimes. I would like to compare it something the 17-40mm L. This was a hand held shot. After talking to some locals about the area it appears that the best time for photographs of this area are after the first snows on the mountains (mountians are around 12,000-14,000 ft.!) in late Autumn when the air is still, low sun and very little water vapour in the air. However, you wouldn’t get the sunflowers then.
