I can’t decide which I prefer. I like the colour for the colours, I like the b&w for the “darkness”. Any thoughts?

The colour shot has lots of motion and depth, Van Gogh would have been proud :) it looks almost Saharan, nice image

i think u are losing to much detail in the b&w… try sandwiching them ….

    Sandwiching?

In my opinion both pictures need some edition. The first is little bit dark and the colours on the second one are “grey”.
The sky on both pictures is flat.

The B&W one loses too much detail in the shadow areas, it’s the detail in the grass that makes the photo.
The colour one just lacks a bit of colour for some reason, looks a bit flat:

Sandwiching: taking two images and layering them in an image editor – so much easier than trying to line up two transparancies by hand in the olden days.

If you convert the colour to B&W in Photoshop you can use it to bring some detail out of the shadows, add contrast and make things a bit punchier. I faffed, to give you a rough idea, hope you don’t mind.

I agree that the 2nd needs more contrast. My edit goes even further than Mick’s, but I like his more.

very nice, Steve, lovely evening sunsetty feel to that variation; so many options with this one.
