You know the standards and C&C are so good here, I’m almost nervous posting :-) I’ve been looking at all my photos in a new light. I still like this one though so I’ll see what the comments are. It was taken in Chile while sandboarding.

Nice colours but the man is too small and too much sky. I would shot with more sand in the picture and bring closer the man.
The title says ‘sandboarding’ but you can not see that.

I see what you’re saying and it makes sense. I suppose I composed it like this cause we cycled 4-5 miles into the desert to get to this spot and all that was there was sky and sand. I might have to think of a title for it and not mention sandboarding.

Have to disagree with Roberto – I love the sheer enormity of the sky in this shot, and the lone figure is standing in the perfect place, right in the middle of the cloud… great composition/crop!

I’d run neatimage on this to take out the noise in the sky… but otherwise, very bold shot!

I think adherence to the rule of thirds would have made this a cracking shot – as it is, there is just too little foreground interest or sand dunes at the bottom of the image, leaving the sky to totally dominate the image.
Looks like a fantastic place! Any more from it…………??

Personally I think this shot is very dramatic, and I love the three colours in it.

I wouldn’t be too worried about the lack of sand, but I am into big skies etc.
The only thing that lets it down (just a little) is the blues being a bit blown out on the right hand side.
If there was any way that you could PS the sky to a uniform blue throughout it would make a smashing print.

love this pic like the way the man is sillouetted against the white cloud gives real impact. just goes to show how big this world really is

I agree that the man is too small, but I still like the idea of scale so I would have just brought him a small bit closer. But not too close, as the shot needs to show the vastness too I think.

Really like the composition in this, the enormity of the sky and the sweep of the dunes makes the shot very graphic and striking – making the person bigger would serve no real purpose IMHO and only reduce the scale of the setting the person is in.
