What have you done here?
Have you added a blur to the photo around the island? The only thing that seems to be in focus are the rocks at the front right to the island.
If it came off your camera like this then there is something wrong with your lens and/or camera!!

Well, if I had a Tilt and Shift lens and the picture didn’t come out like that, then that would be a problem :D

Tilt and shift lens maybe or that effect applied?
Applied in PS, unfortunately. I’d love to buy a Nikkor PC-E but have other things with higher priority in my shopping list :)
thebigbejaysusMemberThe colours and light in this seascape are very pleasing but it’s a pity about the blur as has already been mentioned. It looks like an area ripe for further work.

I could upload and post the original picture, straight out of camera, “sans tilt&shift effect”, and it would look exactly like it is “supposed” to look, i.e. straightforward landscape picture (and I’d say not even a great picture either, but that’s beside the point).
This is just me messing around with a style and more importantly a subject (or a genre) which is not my own, going more “radical” than usual with an aesthetic choice (t&s) applied to an unusual subject (a small island close to the coast).
I’m not saying it’s good, far from it, I’m just saying that there’s not just one single way to capture a landscape, and using a very selective focus (in lens or in post production) is just one of many possible choices.
