Dragged myself out of bed and headed to Donabate, heres what I came up with.

I am happy with them but would appreciate any advise for improvement?

Hi Des. Glad to see you managed a lie-in on Saturday morning. #1 I think is the best shot. I love the mackeral sky effect in the clouds and the stillness of the pool. The horizon looks slightly tilted though (could be this laptop is tilted). #2 I think the movement in the bubbles (is that the right word?), ruin it for me. Two good shots though.

I think both shots are great but they lack a bit of simple contrast…open
them in Photoshop or whatever software and give them about + 16 in
contrast and you will be amazed at the result…I tried it and they look great.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, much appreciated.

Miki g: I thought I had corrected the horizon, but not quite enough! I enlarged and scrolled up and they are both marginally off. God bless your eyesight!

Noel: Spot on, I have adjusted them and of course that has given them that extra little push.

    Thanks again.

Yep, agree a little smidge of contrast maybe a tad extra sharpening too (the rock)… but lovely nonetheless.

Very nice Des, two great shots. The first one would be my favourite, really like the foreground.

Love the first shot Des, the composition is beautiful.

    Hi Des,

Yep well worth the early start, something I cannot do at the weekends.

It does lack some contrast there though, as has been already said.

Sorry for not getting back to this sooner….. hard week at work (not complaining mind you).

Advise gratefully received and absorbed. Contrast boosted and I tried a tad of rock sharpening.

Definite improvement, hopefully visible here – thanks for the feedback.

Sometimes, I think I must be mad hoping out of bed in the early hours at the weekend – and then it all comes together…. tide, wind, sunrise, clouds. Its not perfect, but its close enough to make me want to do go back again….. but not tomorrow!

    Thanks all.

    Hi Des,

    Well done with these.
    Nice colours.

Hard to beat getting a couple of nice shots from an early morning effort and
    you’re not mad at all.

I prefer the look of the landscape version.

    Cheers.

    John.

Mad man Des. Fantastic shots. You have inspired me.

I keep saying I’m going to get up early but never manage to get out of the bed. (I think I’ll wait till sunrise is a bit later in the day though)
