Sawel Mountain

A few from a trip last week up Sawel Mountain and the drive there and back. None from the summit unfortunately as light was very murky then.

    Hi,

Love the sky in the last shot and the heather in the foreground. I found the Sawel a really hard mountain to photograph as the landscape is pretty bland in it’s own way (rolling hills) and lacks the features of somewhere like the Mournes. Great work in picking out that sky and exposing it as you did. Looks like the light was difficult on the first two. Really like the composition on the second shot but the light left it hard to get any detail in the mountain.

Cheers Paul. Aye, not having any filters didn’t help with the first two. The ground does drop away gradually from Sawel too. You don’t have dramatic views directly below like steeper mountains.

Nice set of photos. Its a shame the light didnt break on the mountain in the second photo like it does in the first. Pictures still look good though

Thanks Donal. Waited for a while for it to break as you say, but gave up in the end. No patience sadly. Soon as i moved off back down the valley the light improved again, but I think that side would have been in shadow by then.
