Hi All,
I need some help here. There is something really off in this shot but I cannot
put my finger on it. I know the sax is blown and I’m working on that now trying to correct it.If anyone has an opinion on this one I’d appreicate the C+C
thanks
jb7ParticipantIt looks good to me-
reminds me of old (not flat grain) film-
the only thing that strikes me as being slightly off
would be trying to play the sax in wooly gloves-Contrary to what the musos say,
this one might have suited an ‘eyes closed’ kinda look,
there seems to be a little too much engagement with the subject,
as if he’s aware of being photographed-apart from that,
fine shot-j
GrahamBParticipantIt’s funny you made that comment about him being aware of being photographed.
There was actually a guy beside me who insisted on calling him to get his attention. After that the guy decided to take a break due to the severity of the interuption this one
guy was causing. The performer was actually very good and really looked into his playing.
The photographer beside me though was asking to angle himself different to look into the sun
to lift the sax slightly. I was actually annoyed by the guys attitude. To end it all he never even
dropped some change.LoGillParticipantbyrne5012 wrote:

L
GrahamBParticipantPinkish ? My monitors in work are fairly poor quality so I’m not seeing it.
LoGillParticipantI’m on my laptop – but in the lighter areas. around the brickwork behind his head the tones look like they have a tint… it could be my laptop though :) so hang on a check it yourself ;)
L
GrahamBParticipantYou could be right Lo, I’ll have to wait until i get home to check it out on the MAC
Thanks though, with these monitors I have I never would have bothered to look.ExpresbroParticipantIt definitely has a pinkish sepia tone to it Graham, and god knows I’m guilty of that myself.,.. Maybe it would be better with a darker more contrasty look. Apart from that it’s a great shot imo. I love sexyphones anyway..they always look so cool.
As regards him looking a bit disconnected..he probably is…I reckon he’s thinking..”If that guy doesn’t stop yelling at me I’m gonna ram his camera up his tripod mount for him..”
GrahamBParticipantLoGill / Expresbro – i did a quick edit, does it look any better.
To be honest on these monitors I really can’t see the pink so I am just
guessing on the edit.LoGillParticipantLOL – I’m second guessing myself now – sorry !
I think that looks better :) did you notice it when you did the edit – maybe post the old one for comparison.? There’s probably no point editing it unless you can see what you are doing -and decide if you want to change it – so hang on and take a look and be sure yourself ;)
L
jb7ParticipantGrahamBParticipantTo be honest I did notice a slight Sepia look to it.
There was almost a gold hue to it though.
I just toook the saturation down a little and it seemed to take it out.carlParticipantNice shot Graham.
Just one niggle.
I would just like to see a little more space around him (cropped a little too tight for my taste).Carl.
ExpresbroParticipantThat is better Graham. It still has that “old” look about it..but is more natural looking.
Cheers
Robbie
GrahamBParticipantThanks Robbie, i think one of the problems i have is the difference between the display on the MAC
and the monitors in work. I’ll have to spill coffee on them to get an upgrade.Oh and my new lens was delayed again. Bummer
