SB600 dropped

I was attending an Off camera flash course last night when my Nikon SB600 was dropped. Now its making a strange clicking noise and it can’t find the correct focal length, then it gives up and the “Zoom” section which would normally read 24mm is blank and as a result it won’t fire.

I rang Conns and they said that it could cost €200 to get fixed !!!!!!

I am thinking of just taking it apart and seeing if I can fix it myself. Anyone ever have this problem or has anyone ever taken a flash apart and fixed it themselves ?

Jeepers you would nearly by one for that  You have nothing to lose by
trying it yourself and you never know it may be something obvious.

Just seeing this now, and would advise anyone opening up a flash themselves to think twice. The voltages involved are extremely high, and in electrocution territory. Same with going anywhere near the onboard flash in a camera by opening it up.
