Scottish Highlands – Stob Dearg (Buachaille Etive Mor)

Went on a very enjoyable 4 days photography in the Scottish Highlands with a few friends. Amazing scenery in the whole area, could have stayed for a month. Got up at 5 oclock on the first day hoping to get some nice light. This was taken as the early morning sun lights up Buachaille Etive Mor.
twenty minutes before this the mountain couldnt be seen as it was covered in mist.

This scene has been photographed many times and I was surprised there wasnt a queue at this spot as ive seen so many shots of it before. But Nice to be finally standing there myself.

    thanks for looking

oh i miss scotland so so much! Lovely images as usual. Prefer the vertical….could have more foreground. The colours and contrast are always “garry-tastic”

Nice shots indeed. Second works best for me, I think its the breathing room for the tip of the mountain and the tree on the left.
Lovely colors and a great location

I have seen this shot soooo many times and I still want to go and take it myself. This is definitely one of the better attempts.
Lovely stuff Gary. I too prefer the 2nd. But thats only because it’s there…! If it wasn’t I’d have no probs with the first…!

2 lovely shots Gary. It’s all been said. The second being my fav, but i’m biased as i love to shoot in portrait formatt. As already mentioned nicer/more foreground in the second.

Makes me want to get out and take pics, but cant.

    Lovely work as usual.

    Im with everyone here,

Beautiful shots prefer the second but if the landscape
one had a bit more in the foregroung i would have liked that more than the second.

    You got real magical light.

Thanks for all the comments, i think i might have a landscape version with a bit more foreground. Must have a look. :)

First one gets my vote. I think you’ve captured the light, which looks to have been changing rapidly, very nicely.

Excellent images pof the greatest place on earth for photography i.e. Scotland
Hope you like my image of the same place. Acrually it was too bright the day I was there im march and it was impossible to readthe readings in the camera. I needed a slow shotter speed and it was impossible to achieve.

Two nice pictures, 2nd would be my favorite, great colours and light.

Was at Buachaille Etive Mor this morning looking for shots, didn’t look like this though, was covered in mist….
