Seafood Stew and Strawberry Shortcake
-
DenverDollParticipant
Randomway has suggested that I should photograph my food outside..so here is the garden variety of the result…last night’s dinner.
A California style seafood cioppino and a dessert shortcake~~feel free to browse my flicka for more food.
What’s in it? Mussels..king crab legs…clams…octopus..squid(calimari)..and shrimp(prawns) in a tomato..white wine and garlic base.
The bread is parmesan garlicky sourdough.
What’s in it? Simple flour shortcake..fresh strawberries…freshly whipped cream..and dark chocolate(had to be healthy.)[/img]BrickeeParticipantAlan RossiterParticipantnfl-fanParticipantIt’s hard to critique these shots… I mean… all they do is make me hungry.
Seafood stew looks good… bar those octopus tentacles stick out… they do gives me the creeps a little.
I think you should be vacumn packing some of this food and sending it out to us for tasting… then the real critique will begin.
Just spotted this on Flickr Sharon… you might like it:

 Alan~~~you would say that just as I am sitting here eating a grilled and cheese and tomato sandwich and sipping on the most fattening creamy thai tea I’ve ever stirred together and contemplating the pot roast that is about to go into the Dutch oven for dinner :(
nfl~~I do need critique..the hungry part is good..that is helpful..so it’s making that point..that is a good thing..and a big part of it…but I sure could use tips on composition and light etc.
Thanks for showing me that site too! I have a long way to go in terms of even knowing how to photograph the food in a tantalising presentation. Yesterday before I cooked and snapped these I tried forever…well until the bottle of champagne was gone…to get a pic of a simple flute of wine with strawberries and they all looked horrible..so boring…and all I could think was..I can’t make this champagne look good…and it is soooo good! :?cathaldParticipantAll these food shots of yours are super Sharon
But you make me jealous
if my dinner dosent go ping in a micro my wife wont cook it
BTW i’m with John on the vacumn packingCathal
DenverDollParticipant:lol: Cathald..I live with three teenage boys and one middle aged teenaged boy.
They eat like kings and and horses at the same time.
I am aware that they have no clue how fortunate they are to have this on the table when they get home.
We do not go out to eat often though..and I am a scrupulous shopper and very budget conscious..so that helps!
Thanks for the compliment..if you all make it to Denver next year…I’ll treat you to my own brand of Cali-Colo-Cooking (I made that name up just like I make the food up too~~)
fstop89564Participantdang denver………..looking good…………..what is up for this evenings meal……………………….
good looking there
randomwayMemberI love octopus and squid, they are the most fantastic food ever! The first photo with the red plate and the wooden background looks rustic, I like it…
I still think, that these shots are a bit tight, and you could show more of the background. You are fast becoming a food photographer, and you are even enjoying it. :) I’m jealous.
nfl-fanParticipantDenverDollParticipantfstop~~Thank you Tim! Dinner is a pot roast of sorts..we’ll see if a slab of meat is photogenic soon!
Rway~~hey thank you Zoltan..and we here agree with you..there was plenty of squabbling over the squid and little octopi…next time there will be more of each..and probably less of the crab legs as they just sort of get in the way..they need to be their own meal I suppose~~~ (but hey..this is photography right..and they look good floating there.)
Next time will try for more environment still..thanks for the hint! :D
nfl~~john..funny thing about that..I love pot noodle and beans on toast….perfectly happy to sit down to either  My kids eat beans on toast because of my own Irish upbringing…but their friends either politely decline or throw up looking at it..
