I took this one at Newcastle beach on Sunday morning the Seagull had been floating about quite peacefully and then a wave seemed to scare the s …. life out of it.

Beautiful. The light through the wave; the foam or whatever leading down below the bird, it looks like a painting somehow.

    Very nice Soda.

I quite like the composition, and the colour in the water is terrific. Your main point of
focus seem to be a little behind your main subject leaving it a bit soft though. But difficult
enough to catch shots like this so well done.

Rob thanks for the comments. You are right I had been focusing on the gull while it was floating and as I hadn’t asked it to pose, the git just took off  and I was very happy getting the shot I did.
    Thanks again Rob

Reminds me of a “Guinness” ad Soda, colours are great but the gull is blurred, typical, ya focus on the gull and it flies away

    Cool angle. Really eye catching.

Have you ever headed out to the Harbour Reserve here in Belfast or to the coast ont he north end of the head there? Seems like there’s loads of birds around. The hide in the reserve seems like a nice spot. I’m hoping I’ll get some light there from next week onwards. I usually try to finish work at around 16:00 and the sun is starting to stay up a little longer. Might start heading over there if there’s some light in the evenings. There’s also a park just before you get to the City Airport that appears to have loads of birds around in the mornings. It’s usally a blur as I’m driving by but it looks busy.

Fishjam, Thanks very much for the comments, the more that people say about it on this forum the more I see in the photo if you know what I mean, things like a slight reflection of the seagull in the water.
    Thanks again.
