    Hi Rob.
    I don’t know much about portraiture, but in this shot I think that there is too much variation in the tones from the left side of his face to the right. On the right (as I look at it) the flesh tones look washed out & on the left, there is too much shadow IMO. The use of a reflector of some sort might help to even the lighting more. Other than that, it’s a nice shot.

    I do get what you’re saying about the variation, and perhaps I have left the
    right side of the face a little dark. I was aiming for a little darker to give the
    image some depth but may have overdone it. Might reprocess this one and
    dodge that side a bit…

    Hi Rob good to see you back posting. Hope you are well.
    As you probably know I know nought about portraits but it does appear to be very bright down the right handside looking at it, although from what you have said darkening it down a bit might get the effect you were aiming for.
