Was hoping to get some shots of the sun rising over Dun Laoghaire from the bathing spot at Seapoint near Monkstown. Just as the sun was about to peek through the clouds rolled in, I got these two beforehand and I will greatly accept any comments you have to improve the images.
The sky in the first one is great, but I don’t like the strong colours extending into the bottom of the image too. It makes it look like you have used a colour filter over the whole image, rather than capturing the natural light.
If you could give the first image the same foreground treatment as the second, I think you will be onto a winner.
Were they both captured without filters? They are both good shots, and the water in the first could almost pass for a very old sepia toned shot. It’s been a couple of years since I was around there, I have who knows how many from the far end of that path at the harbour. For some reason, I prefer the first shot myself, though the crane might be a slight distraction, it doesn’t ruin the shot in my humble opinion.
