Searching for a darkroom
-
MarielaParticipant
I am living in Lismore and am in search a darkroom where I may process 120BW film and create images from these negatives. Have been living in Ireland Co. Cork and now Waterford for nine months and am having very little luck trying ot develope my work. I am specific about what I need for the quality of my work. Dont really wish to move to Dublin.Would consider building a darkroom if the space and price is right.

stasberMemberHi Mariela, I know that f22 in Cork used to rent their darkroom a few years ago, however I don’t know what the score is now, or what the rates would be. They may be able to give you more leads. Good luck!

FintanParticipantThe price of used darkroom equipment is so low, if you have space, you should make one. You could kit out a darkroom for the cost of developing a few dozen rolls of film.
Obviously you should watch the classified section of this website and also http://www.buyandsell.net as they regularly have darkroom stuff. Its a buyers market so haggle on the prices. You might also ring Louise is Gunnes photo shop in Wexford Street. She often has contacts with people downsizing their darkrooms etc.
Welcome to Photography Ireland, always a pleasure to welcome a real photographer

Have to correct you there Steve. It’s Kinsale (home of Giles Norman) that she’s moved to. I met with her last week just before she headed off on her six week holiday (apparently her first in over 20 years). She’s only just got her darkroom up and running but will be in full swing again when she returns.
KPMParticipantMariela,
I know a guy in Dungarvan who is selling his darkroom equipment.
I’m not sure of the details of it, whats included etc. but I do know that he bought it some time
ago but due to family reasons he never opened it. If you send me a pm I will forward his contact details.Regards
Kevin
