Not sure why nobody’s commented yet but anyway, here’s my tuppence worth.
#1 just seems a bit flat and empty for some reason. I’m looking around it for something dramatic but there’s nothing to grab my attention. I’m not sure the foreground rocks are interesting enough and the landmass just seems to be juttting into the image and doesn’t add anything. Sorry!
#2 is a lot better in my opinion but again I think it’s screaming out for something like a wave crashing or a more ominous looking sky. Also, the horizon in both cases seems to be almost dead centre which rarely works in landscapes. Hope that’s been some help.

I think there nice. Subtlety is key, the bleakness off the images are very interesting. And everyone’s seen great pictures of waves crashing nice to see something different.

thanks guys for the comments they have been really helpfull, another thing is how do you get sharpness from front to back not able to grasp this one?

I think a touch more contrast would give them a boost, they just seem too “grey” no
    definite blacks or whites.

As for sharpness, close the aperture down to f22 or smaller if your lens will allow
that will increase your depth of field.
