Seasonal Theme – Ice Skaters

Some ice skaters at Somerset House in London about 2 weeks ago.
Incidentally, while I was taking this, without a tripod, I was approached by a very polite security guard and requested to stop taking any further photographs.
The reason given was that there were “children among the skaters” who weren’t family members of mine. Although I understand the ultimate reasoning behind this, I also think it is a pretty unhelpful (i.e. have to be seen to do something) reaction to the real issues of paedophilia, as well as being an even sadder reflection on the society in which we live.Changed the image – straightened it a bit and reduced the frame size.
Indeed, a lovely shot. Straighten it and I won’t have any complaints. I *hate* the crazy pedophile fear that people have as well. It drives me crazy to be automatically assumed to be a pedophile just because you’re taking pictures where children happen to be.
Yep – you’re both right about the straightening – I must have done it too late last night – looked fine then !
Will correct it later and narrow the border a bit.

Boris Johnson (a UK MP) complained recently that he was asked to move to a different seat on an aircraft because it is BA’s policy not to allow men on their own to travel alongside children. He had to point out that the kids next to him were actually his own!
Just a footnote – as well as John (steelydan) this one was also a runner-up in this months Nokia photo contest.
So – two prizewinners from PI !
Thought I recognised the name in todays magazine. Its an excellent shot Frank and deserving of a runner up place too
The winning shot was taken in Waterford too,but it must have been some time ago with all that snow around. Must have been 1989 or 1994 i guess? Congratulations again tis a great phone and worth a few euros
